Latest

### Gather 0.1.70

Clearer permissions.
Smoother capture.

#### Clipboard access, at a glance

Settings now show clipboard reading and pasting permissions separately, with controls to request access or open macOS settings.

With paste access, choosing a clip attempts to paste it into your previous app. Without access, the flyout offers Copy so you can paste with ⌘V.

#### Capture stays out of the way

Opening Clipboard no longer wakes or moves the resting Capture pebble. Quick Capture now defaults to Control–Shift–Space to avoid Siri; the conflicting old shortcut is migrated and other custom shortcuts stay unchanged.

The Capture action button now stays within its circular shape in light and dark appearances.

#### A cleaner installer

The disk image now opens a focused drag-to-Applications window with clear instructions and no technical README.

Build 66

### Gather 0.1.66

Four new themes.
A softer place to wait.

#### More colors for your workspace

Moss, Iris, Rosewood, and Graphite join the original four palettes. All eight have light and dark appearances. Choose yours in Settings → Appearance.

#### Rest at the screen edge

Keep the Capture bubble visible and let it rest against the nearest screen edge. It splashes softly into the edge, settles into an organic shape, and returns to its round form when you hover or drag a file.

In Settings → Capture, turn on Keep the bubble visible, then Rest at the screen edge. A visual preview shows the waiting and awake states. Reduce Motion uses a quieter transition.

#### Clearer keyboard shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts now show each key with clear spacing, including longer modifier combinations, and provide readable key names for VoiceOver.

Build 65

### Gather 0.1.65

Your Gather account.
Your library, still local.

#### Sign in with Apple or email

Gather now requires an account. Continue with Apple, or register with your email and enter the verification code in the app. Your notes, files, collections and Clipboard history stay on your Mac.

#### A personal welcome

Add an optional name when registering or from Home. Edit or clear it in Settings → Account. Home uses your saved name in its welcome.

#### Keep your existing library

On first sign-in, an existing library can be associated with your account or left in place while you start fresh. Gather creates a recoverable backup before association. Each account has its own local library.

#### Account controls, in one place

Reset a forgotten password with an emailed code. Manage your password, sessions and account deletion in Settings → Account. Export collections before deleting an account: local files remain, but the deleted account can no longer open them in Gather.

Build 64

### Gather 0.1.64

Four languages.
A calmer Clipboard.

Combined changes from 0.1.63 and 0.1.64.

#### Choose your language

Gather and this website now support English, German, Polish, and Spanish. The app follows your Mac’s preferred language by default. To choose another, open Settings → App & Updates → App language, then quit and reopen Gather.

#### Copy and return in one click

Click an item in the Clipboard flyout to copy it and return to your previous app. Press `⌘V` to paste.

#### Time, at a glance

Clipboard timestamps use whole minutes, hours, and days in your chosen language, without ticking seconds. Hover over a timestamp for the exact date and time.

#### Dismiss and keep working

Click outside the Clipboard flyout to dismiss it and keep working.

#### Put Clipboard where you need it

Drag the Clipboard flyout’s header to move it. Gather remembers its position when you reopen it or restart the app. To start again, choose Settings → Gather Clipboard → Quick access → Reset to Center.

#### Drag clips into your work

Drag clips from the flyout or Clipboard history into compatible apps. Text retains its available formatting, links include a URL, and images include a PNG file. File clips include every referenced file, with the originals left in place.

#### Subtler borders, clear controls

Capture and Clipboard flyouts now use subtler outer borders across all four color themes. Keyboard focus stays visible, with dedicated appearances for Reduce Transparency and Increased Contrast.

Build 62

### Gather 0.1.62

Meet Gather Clipboard.
A little more memory for your Mac.

#### Your copies, ready to use again

Gather Clipboard is a new, optional clipboard history. It starts off. Turn it on in the new Clipboard section above Collections, then Gather keeps supported text, formatted text, links, images, and file references as you copy them.

#### A shortcut back to what you copied

Press `⇧⌘V` to open the new glass flyout. Search, filter by type, or browse your pinned clips. Choose a clip to copy it, then paste into your app with `⌘V`. Choose a different shortcut in Settings → Gather Clipboard.

#### A home for your clipboard history

Open Clipboard in the main window for larger previews, pins, plain-text copying, and Save to Collection. History stays separate from your saved library until you choose to keep a clip in a collection.

#### Local history, with controls that matter

Pause recording whenever you need, exclude apps, and choose how long unpinned clips stay. The defaults are seven days and up to 500 unpinned clips. Pinned clips stay until you remove them, within storage limits. Gather skips recognized sensitive-content markers and common password managers.

#### Glass that belongs throughout Gather

The Capture flyout and main window now share Clipboard’s theme-tinted glass, with matching search fields, controls, and icon badges. Navigation and preview actions feel consistent, while notes and documents keep solid reading surfaces. Reduce Transparency and Increased Contrast have dedicated fallbacks.

#### Small fixes for everyday work

Markdown files dropped from Finder keep their filenames and open as editable notes. Quick Capture shortcuts keep the same bubble, clipboard previews, and Attach/Paste controls; repeated shortcuts preserve the current draft and destination.

Build 61

### Gather 0.1.61

Find it faster.
Keep your collection steady.

Combined changes from 0.1.60 and 0.1.61.

#### Recall searches as you type

Type three characters and Recall searches automatically after a short pause. Return still searches immediately. In Settings → Search & Recall, choose whether clicking a result copies the full item or opens it in Gather. The other action stays available on the right.

#### Take your notes with you

Drag a note from Recall or a collection into Finder or another app to get a Markdown file with its full saved text and formatting.

#### Select and organize several items

Drag from empty collection space to draw a selection rectangle. Shift adds items; Command toggles them. Command-click and Shift-click still work, along with Shift-arrow for a range. Copy and paste with Command-C/V or Control-C/V, and press Delete to review a confirmation.

Drag any selected item onto a folder to move the whole selection. You can also drop files into a collection’s content area, whether it is empty or already filled.

#### A preview that stays in place

The existing preview stays open in wide windows and remembers its width. Clicking through items and folders keeps your collection steady. An empty selection shows a quiet placeholder; multiple selections show a summary. Use the Preview toggle to hide or show it. Narrow windows open the reader when you ask.

The compact collection view has clearer titles and square thumbnails. Folders keep their content previews and stay in at least two columns, with more room in wider windows.

#### A shortcut for quick notes

The Quick Capture shortcut opens a focused note composer in the capture bubble. Start typing immediately, choose a destination, and save. Regular capture keeps its clipboard and attachment controls.

#### Useful details, throughout Gather

Command-click a saved link to open it in your browser, or use the external-link button shown on hover or keyboard focus. The capture bubble keeps its transparent glass appearance across every color theme, with a subtle tint from your chosen palette.

Build 59

### Gather 0.1.59

Edit tables in place.
Bring images into your notes.

#### Work directly in table cells

Tables are now editable in formatted notes. Move between cells with Tab and Shift-Tab. Use the Table menu to add or remove rows and columns, change column alignment, or remove a table. Your changes carry through to Markdown, saved notes, and exports.

#### Expand a capture with images

Open an image-only capture or a thought with multiple images in the full note editor. Gather embeds the images in one note at your chosen collection and folder. If an image cannot be read or the note cannot be saved, your capture stays available.

#### Give the library its space back

Expanding a note closes the preview pane and keeps the note selected in the library. The separate window continues with the same autosaving draft.

Build 58

### Gather 0.1.58

Notes in their own window.
Markdown tools within reach.

#### Open a note in its own window

Expand a note from the preview into a separate, resizable window. Both views share the same autosaving draft. The collection and folder path stays visible; click it to find the note in your library.

#### Turn a quick thought into a full note

Expand a text-only Quick Capture thought into the note editor with its Markdown and chosen destination intact. If saving fails, your draft stays available. Captures with attached items stay in Quick Capture until you save or remove those items.

#### Format with a click

Formatted and Markdown views now include controls for all six heading levels, emphasis, strikethrough, bullet and numbered lists, checklists, indentation, quotes, links, images, inline code, code blocks, tables, and dividers. Tables stay as editable Markdown source.

#### Drop images where they belong

Drag an image file or PNG/TIFF image data into a note to insert it at the drop position. Images remain embedded when you save, reopen, edit the source, undo, or export.

#### Keep pending edits safe

Closing a separate note window saves pending edits first. If saving fails, the window stays open so you can try again.

Build 57

### Gather 0.1.57

Settings, inside Gather.
Shortcuts that work for you.

#### Stay in your workspace

Open Settings from Gather’s sidebar or with Command-comma. Back to Library or Escape returns to the same collection, folder, and item. Your note and chat drafts are kept.

#### Find the right setting

Settings now has six categories: Appearance, Capture, Search & Recall, AI & Summaries, Files & Storage, and App & Updates. AI accounts, models, and background suggestions are together; Recall sits with search. Your existing preferences are retained.

Chat settings and Capture preferences open the matching category in the main window.

#### Choose your own shortcut letters

Quick Capture and Recall now support every letter A–Z, plus Space. Combinations used by the other action are marked. A conflicting key or modifier change keeps your saved shortcut and explains the conflict.

You can use the same letter with different modifiers, and edit Recall’s shortcut while Recall is turned off.

Build 56

### Gather 0.1.56

Interactive checklists.
More useful capture and Recall.

#### Check off tasks in your notes

Use the checklist toolbar button or Markdown `- [ ]` and `- [x]` lists to add tasks. Click a checkbox to complete it and press Return to add the next task. Your task states stay with the note when you reopen or export it.

#### Save what you just copied

The capture bubble now offers Save text, Save link, Save image, Save screenshot, and file prompts. Click the bubble or prompt to preview the item, choose a collection, and save.

Prompts follow your clipboard setting and respect private clipboard types. Copying something new keeps an open capture preview stable.

#### Pick up your recent items in Recall

Recall opens with an empty search field and the five most recently added items. Type to search; clear the search to return to your recent items. Credentials remain excluded.

#### A quieter capture bubble

Hovering over or interacting with the bubble no longer brings the main library window to the front. If you copy a new item during save feedback, it remains available to capture afterward.

#### Better spacing after lists

Editing a Markdown list now preserves the blank line before the following paragraph.

Build 55

### Gather 0.1.55

A signed Mac release.
And an easier way to stay up to date.

#### Signed and notarized

Gather is now signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple. Download the app, move it to Applications, and open it from there.

#### Updates, inside Gather

Check for new versions from the Gather menu. You can also enable automatic checks in Settings.

#### Another way to protect credentials

Choose optional macOS Keychain storage for individual credentials, with system authentication to unlock them. The encrypted local vault and its separate password remain available.

#### Coming from an earlier preview?

Back up your library with Gather closed before installing. The first sandboxed launch can move your library to its new location. If your library looks empty, preserve both copies and follow the [upgrade guide](<https://getgatherapp.com/help/#upgrading>).
